Cholinergic Urticaria and You
Cholinergic urticaria can often be caused by a variety of different things. Urticaria are usually referred to as
hives by most people nowadays. That is the common term for it.
The most common cause of this type of skin disorder is caused by the body’s reaction to an excess amount of sweat.
Sometimes the sweat can be a product of exercise, or maybe even extreme temperatures.
No matter what causes the sweat, you can often find that the body will have a reaction that is itchy and much like
a rash- or hives.
Usually this type of skin disorder causes small hives that can be found on the upper body more commonly than they
can be found on the lower body and extremities.
This is probably one of the fastest appearing forms of hives out there. They appear normally within just a few
minutes of being exposed to sweat or heat.
Sometimes you will find that cholinergic urticaria can also be caused by being in stressful situations.
The good thing about this type of hives is that usually once the body has cooled off they will usually go away on
their own. Getting a shower, drinking some cool water, and making sure that you do not get heated back up are all
great ways to alleviate the itchiness and swelling associated with this type of hives.
Take the time to remember this if you find that you have a break out after exercise.
Cholinergic urticaria is usually not a very severe condition. In extreme cases, it may have additional symptoms
such as headaches and other body cramps and pains.
You may even find yourself short of breath. These cases are usually rare. Take the time to talk to your doctor if
you experience these effects from your particular skin condition.
