Delayed Pressure Urticaria

A Closer Look at Delayed Pressure Urticaria

There are many different types of chronic hives out there, and delayed pressure urticaria is one of them.

This is a form of physical urticaria since it is caused by something that is physically touching the body, or skin. There are many different causes of this type of hives. Usually, sensitive skin is the type of skin that is mostly affected by this condition. Take the time to look at the different symptoms to see if it is something that you may have.

The first thing to consider when you are trying to figure out if you have delayed pressure urticaria is the fact that it is not something that comes up right away. It is usually something that does not develop until a few hours after contact.

They can usually last a couple of days and are usually considered to be chronic- meaning it is a condition that will recur time after time again.

Most of the time if you notice that you have a rash of some sort after pressure is applied, then you can tell by just looking at the rash if it is, in fact, this type of skin condition.

There are really not many things that you can do in order to treat this condition, but you can help to alleviate the pain and swelling and itching that are involved. Usually cortisone shots can be quite helpful for people who suffer from this.

Delayed pressure urticaria can be caused by all different types of pressure, whether you are standing or sitting for long periods. It can also be caused by tight or form fitting clothing- waistbands especially.

The feet is another part of the body that can be especially prone to this type of skin condition- more so for people who wear tight shoes.
