Urticaria Treatment that Goes Beyond the Superficial
When the average person develops a case of hives, he or she reaches for an antihistamine, applies it and waits for
symptoms to disappear. In more troubling cases, the individual may seek out an urticaria treatment based on the use
of steroids or other medications.
Those who suffer from chronic cases of urticaria don’t respond to those superficial methods of treatment, however.
Their hives tend to last six weeks or more and in many cases, it seems that using drugs--whether they’re
over-the-counter products or prescriptions--actually makes the problem worse.
That’s because superficial urticaria treatment doesn’t recognize the potential underlying causes of the condition.
Some researchers posit the idea that people who frequently suffer from serious cases of hives develop the condition
due to a hyperactive immune system. If that’s the case, the addition of medications to the situation isn’t going to
provide much relief. Instead, it’s going to give the body a new assortment of outside forces to which it may
respond negatively.
The standard methods of urticaria treatment work from the top down. They try to minimize the hives themselves
instead of addressing their root cause. When hives are brought on by overactive immune systems, that strategy
doesn’t make any sense. Instead, many chronic urticaria sufferers discover that the best way to alleviate their
painful and aggravating condition is by working from the bottom up.
That means avoiding the use of products that can actually encourage an immune system response, like many
medications, and utilizing methods that work naturally from the inside to reduce the occurrence of hives.
Regular, every day treatments may be fine for many people, but they just won’t do the trick for those with chronic
urticaria. Those individuals need to look in a new direction and to consider the possibility that alternative
treatments that aren’t part of the superficial, band-aid approach may be their best chance to alleviate their
nagging symptoms.
Many people who have dealt with severe outbursts of hives throughout their lives have also responded positively to
alternative methods of treatment that don’t invite foreign substances and toxins into the body. They’ve discovered
that natural urticaria treatment is far superior to the application of the “latest and greatest” cream or to
popping yet another pill.
If you’ve been suffering from hives and haven’t found relief through the usual forms of urticaria treatment,
consult with your physician and thoroughly investigate alternative, natural means of combating the
problem.
