Hives Treatment - Which is the Right One in Your Case?
Suffering from hives is unpleasant and often painful and embarrassing. There are a number of remedies you can use
to get rid of the welts, but the reality is that there cannot be an effective treatment unless the causes of the
condition are determined by a medical professional.
Even in such cases a proper cure may not be found. Generally, the acute and chronic hives or urticaria lasting less
and more than six weeks respectively will require different types of treatments. The former is usually cured
effectively with antihistamine.
Since the main factor for the hives to appear is the production of histamine by the body, the patients with chronic
urticaria will also be treated with antihistamine first. Still, this is usually not sufficient and some additional
tests have to be performed and further treatment provided.
One study carried out back in 2001 revealed that in many cases the chronic hives are caused by a bacteria called
Helicobacter pylori bacteria otherwise known as H. pylori bacteria. This same organism is also known to be the main
reason for the appearance of stomach ulcers.
It was discovered that a large number of patients are suffering from both this condition and hives. When treated
with the respective antibiotics the sufferers responded very well. Both the stomach ulcers and the chronic
urticaria were effectively cured. In some cases the causes of chronic urticaria are more serious. The person may be
suffering from a thyroid diseases or autoimmune one. With the treatment of the condition it symptoms including the
hives are cured. Overall, once the causes are found there can be a reliable treatment for chronic hives.
While those with an acute form of urticaria can get relief relatively quickly and easily thanks to antihistamine,
those that suffer from the chronic form of the condition have to seek specialized medical help. If you notice that
hives are lasting for long and are appearing frequently on your body, you should contact your physician
immediately. The earlier the condition is discovered the better the chances are for getting the necessary treatment
and accomplishing the desired long term results.
